Julia Hickey (Mijangos) González is a visual artist, writer, and educator residing in New York City, New York, and San Luis Obispo, California. She uses painting, fabric, and installation to create multilayered, dream-like objects exploring modes of desire, dissonance, fusion, and reverie. Julia earned an MFA from Rutgers in 2017 and a BA in Art from Yale University in 2007. She has taught at The Cooper Union and Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts. Her work has appeared in NADA Curated, the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, Modern Art Oxford, the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, and Foley Gallery, PRECOG magazine, and Printed Matter, among others. She directs the exhibition space MATINEE projects in New York City.
