Julia Hickey (Mijangos) González is a visual artist residing in New York City, New York, and San Luis Obispo, California. She uses painting, fabric, and installation to create multilayered, dream-like images exploring modes of desire, dissonance, fusion, and reverie. Julia earned an MFA from Rutgers in 2017 and a BA in Art from Yale University in 2007. She teaches drawing at The Cooper Union and painting at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts. In 2021, she attended the AIR Seven artist residency in Cascade, Montana, and was featured in PRECOG magazine as part of Printed Matter’s virtual art book fair. She directs the exhibition space MATINEE projects in New York City.
